The Plantation Eagles U-15 girls win the Gator Showcase (Gainesville ), with a commanding performance. Not even the frigid 20 degree temperature could stop the girls from winning the coveted first place.
The girls opened the tournament in group play against FC Tampa Lady Lightning. The game started out as an offensive challenge with frequent runs into the opponent’s box being thwarted by their strong defense. The breakthrough came halfway into the first half when Valentina latched unto a feed from her advancing fullback Natalie and with a few quick touches, drove the ball into the upper corner of the goal for a deserving 1-0 lead. The Eagle’s play continued in the same pattern but with not much to show until the second half when Brittany exhibited great patience in settling a ball received from Sharon and placing it in the goal away from the keeper. The Eagles went on to win the game 2-1.

With Jessy reeling from a nasty head butt, the theme of the second half was "Patience", which the girls used until approximately 15 minutes left in the game they unleashed a barrage of attacks that left no doubt that it would be just a matter of time before they would score. The goal from Andrea which would prove to be the winning goal came as a result of the girl’s constant pressure.
In the third game played on the second day against GSA Puma Power, the girls were a little more comfortable with the temperature going up to the 60 degree mark. We love yah. The spirit of the week-end was truly a team effort and a togetherness that was gratifying.
